Adam has 20 years’ national and international experience in the mining industry, after having undertaken his Honours and PhD studies with Alcoa Australia at their Darling Range bauxite mines in the 1990’s. In 2000, Adam formed the Soilwater Group (SWG), which is a Perth-based consultancy, laboratory and research organisation employing over 15 earth science professional and laboratory technicians, and consists of Soilwater Consultants (SWC), Soilwater Analysis (SWA) and Soilwater Technologies (SWT).

Adam has extensive experience in mine rehabilitation and closure, including the development and implementation of mine closure plans (MCP) and Environment Impact Assessments (EIA). He has specific expertise in baseline and post-mine soil survey and assessment, including geochemical characterisation, unsaturated zone hydrology, erosion testing, modelling and monitoring, hydrology and hydrogeology and ecosystem function analysis and monitoring. In 2010 Adam was invited by the South Australian (SA) Government, in association with the Murray Darling Basin Commission (MDBC), to be a peer reviewer of the Murray River and Lower Lakes 3D Biogeochemical Model, which was developed to predict the fate and evolution of the Murray River in SA and to identify potential amelioration options.

Adam has also work on several other iconic mining projects, including the Tropicana Gold Project (AngloGold Ashanti), Cloud Break and Christmas Creek Iron Ore Project (FMG), Centipede and Lake Way Uranium Projects (Toro Energy) and Mt Keith Nickel Mine (BHP Billiton).
